For nearly 40 years, John Bryan Community Pottery has been providing opportunities for learning and working with clay to the Yellow Springs community and surrounding areas. This new show honors the storied past of our pottery by exhibiting the work of former members, staff, students and teachers and displaying an interactive timeline so that community members can help fill in the details of that history.
ARTIST’S RECEPTION: Saturday, October 29, 2011 4:00 p.m.
John Bryan Community Pottery is gathering information about our early days. We will have an interactive timeline displayed so that we may fill in our history together. You are are invited to bring details from our past to share such as photos, significant events, facility improvements, and connections with past renters, teachers and students. The reception will also coincide with the third firing of our wood kiln. All exhibit participants are also invited to drop off or send a few pieces to be included in this firing.
WOOD FIRING
Saturday, October 29, early a.m. until night
Our third wood firing in our new Manabigama (beautiful teaching kiln) is scheduled for Halloween weekend. The kiln will be firing all day, reaching peak temperature in the early evening hours. If you have not seen a wood firing in progress, stop on down to the biggest Halloween bonfire in Yellow Springs.
