Raku Mushroom Workshop, April 2026
Raku Mushroom Workshop
When: April 22 & 29, 2026
Time: Wednesdays 6-8pm
Price: $65
Instructor: Nate Frank
Ages: 18+
This two day workshop is all about mushrooms. The first class session will guide your through sculpting your own clay mushroom from scratch. The second session you will apply special glazes to your piece, then fire them in the exciting raku kiln. When hot enough you will get to participate in pulling the glowing hot mushrooms from the kiln and using a multitude of combustibles to create amazing colors and reactions on the surface of your pot.
The best part? Your sculptures can be taken home right after the second class! Though Raku fired pots are not food safe, they will make a beautifully unique addition to any collection.
Participants must wear cotton clothing, have hair secured and covered and closed toed shoes for the second day of this class, as they will be in close quarters with fire. There will also be a great deal of smoke involved so those sensitive to smoke are recommended to wear a mask during the last part of the class.
All JBCP classes have a minimum enrollment that must be met for the class to hold.
