Get your Hands in Clay!

Understanding our Wheel Throwing Class Levels

Class descriptions. Returning students welcome in all levels.

  • Level 1, is for the complete beginner who has never taken wheel throwing, never touched clay or perhaps only dabbled over the years. We will cover all the basic introductions to clay, the process and how to work safely in the studio.

  • Level 2, is for the student who has taken a Level 1 beginner class  with us or at another studio. They understand the basics of wheel throwing and are ready to start improving their skills. It’s a great refresher for a newer potter and provides a little more concentration on technique and new projects.

  • Level 3, is for the student who has a few classes under their belt. They can work on the wheel, center consistently and have a good grasp of basic forms. This class will be more structured and introduce more complex forms, multiple part pots, how to work larger amounts of clay, and more.

  • Level 4, is for the student who is really advancing their skills. This is  our most rigorous wheel throwing class, pushing students to create quality pottery through specific assignments, covering complex forms and technique. We will delve in to the science of pottery and also drive home the goal of understanding how to create quality pottery.
